Dr. Roger Perry, Ph.D, HSPP, Clinical Psychologist

Roger W. Perry, Ph.D., HSPP is a native Hoosier.  He grew up in Lake County, Indiana and after graduation from East Chicago Roosevelt High School (now East Chicago Central High School) obtained his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington.  He worked for the Lake County Department of Public Welfare as a Case Worker before entering the Military Service as an Officer.  He was a Juvenile Probation Officer while completing his Masters Degree in Education (Guidance and Counseling) at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. He finally completed his Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology from Purdue University in 1976.

Dr. Perry has had extensive experience in correctional services.  He was Chief Psychologist at the Indiana Girls School, Indiana Boys School, The Indiana Reformatory (Pendleton Correctional Facility) and the Indiana State Farm (Putnamville Correctional Facility) in Indiana.  He has also worked at the Reception and Diagnostic Center, Indiana Women’s Prison, Westville Correctional Facility and the prison at Michigan City.  In addition, Dr. Perry worked in Prison Mental Health Hospitals at Ross Correctional Facility and the Chillicothy Correctional Facility in Ohio and the Ellis II Psychiatric Treatment Center for the Texas Department of Corrections.  Dr. Perry continues doing Competency to Stand Trial and Criminal Responsibility Evaluations for various Indiana County Criminal Courts.

Dr. Perry has had extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings at the VA medical Center at Marion, Indiana and Indianapolis Indiana.  He has done extensive psychodiagnostic evaluations in these and school settings for many years now.

Dr. Perry has special interests in clinical teaching, supervision, and clinical crisis interventions. He also enjoys consultation for mental health providers and charter school program planning.
